Slovak Economic Association Meeting (SEAM 2022)

in cooperation with the University of Economics in Bratislava and the EDAMBA conference

Bratislava, September 15-16, 2022

The Slovak Economic Association (SEA) is soliciting submissions for its 2022 annual conference to be held at the University of Economics in Bratislava on September 15–16, 2022. Research papers from all fields of economics and finance are welcome. We feel optimistic and this year we would like to held the conference as a face-to-face meeting. The conference will be a joint event with the annual conference of the University of Economics in Bratislava for PhD students and post-doctoral scholars EDAMBA.

Michal Kolesár is a Professor of Economics at Princeton University, specializing in econometrics. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard in 2013, and joined the Princeton faculty in 2014 after a postdoc at Yale University. His research focuses on developing methods for causal inference, such as developing robust methods for inference in regression discontinuity designs, and instrumental variables models. Professor Kolesár serves on the editorial board of several journals, including Quantitative Economics, and Journal of Econometrics. He is a recipient of the 2019 Sloan Research Fellowship.

Tymofiy Mylovanov is the President of the Kyiv School of Economics and associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh. On July 7, 2016 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine elected Tymofiy Mylovanov to the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine, and from October 2016 to August 2019 he held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board. From August 2019 to March 2020, Mylovanov held the post of Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine. Tymofiy Mylovanov graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (Management) in 1997 and from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy majoring in Economic Theory in 1999. In 2004 he got his PhD in Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).

Submission Procedure:

Please submit a draft paper in pdf format by June 17, 2022 via the conference system. Decisions about acceptance will be communicated by July 8, 2022. The conference will be held in English. Proposals for complete sessions dedicated to specific topics are also welcome.

SEA Award for Young Economists:

The Slovak Economic Association will award a prize of 500 EUR to the best paper authored by economist(s) up to 35 years of age. In case of joint papers, all co-authors have to fulfil this condition. Only papers presented at the conference will be considered for the Award. Authors who wish to be considered for the SEA Award for Young Economists must indicate this in the submission process.

Registration:

The registration fee is € 50,-. This fee is waived for SEA members and students. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.
You are also welcome to attend the conference as a non-presenting participant.
All participants need to register via this form till August 15, 2022 at the latest.
Presenters may be asked to serve as discussants. The organizers reserve the right to restrict the number of participants due to capacity constraints.
