Slovak Economic Association Meeting (SEAM 2024)

in cooperation with the Comenius University Bratislava

Bratislava, September 12-13, 2024

The Slovak Economic Association (SEA) is soliciting submissions for its 2024 annual conference. Research papers from all fields of economics and finance are welcome.

University of Munich

Uwe Sunde is a German economist and currently Professor of Economics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) as well as a Research Professor in the ifo Center for Labour and Demographic Economics. Sunde's research interests include long-term development and growth, political economy, labour economics, population economics, and behavioural economics. In 2015, his research on risk preferences and on the role of life expectancy and human capital for long-term economic development earned him the Gossen Prize. According to IDEAS/RePEc, Sunde ranks among the top 2% of highest-cited economists worldwide.

Submission Procedure

Please submit a paper in pdf format by June 14, 2024, via the conference submission system. Decisions about acceptance will be communicated by July 5, 2024. The conference will be held in English. Proposals for complete sessions dedicated to specific topics are welcome.

SEA Award for Young Economists

The Slovak Economic Association will award a prize of €500 to the best paper authored by economist(s) who are 35 or younger. In case of joint papers, all co-authors have to fulfil this condition. Only papers presented at the conference will be considered for the Award. Authors who wish to be considered for the SEA Award for Young Economists must indicate this in the submission process.

Women in Slovak Economics (WISE)

This year’s conference will feature a special session for a new initiative within SEA – Women in Slovak Economics. It will consist of a lecture by an outstanding Slovak economist Katarína Borovičková and a panel discussion on women in economics in Slovakia and abroad.

Katarína Borovičková is an economist in the Research Department. Borovičková joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in September 2022 after working at New York University as an assistant professor of economics. She earned her doctorate from the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on labor markets and macroeconomics, with a special interest in understanding the role of heterogeneity.

Registration

The regular registration fee is €50. The fee is waived for SEA members and students. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.
Non-presenting participants are also welcome.
All participants need to register via the online form before August 1, 2024.
Presenters may be asked to serve as discussants. The organizers reserve the right to restrict the number of participants due to capacity constraints.
